Since WinXP was developed several years ago, Microsoft has decided to make Internet Explorer (IE6, then) an integral part of the OS. It could not be removed. The same policy was maintained during the development of Vista; IE7 is built-in as an integral part of the operating system, and *cannot* be removed. >Because that seems pretty stupid to me. > I don't know that I'd use the term "stupid," but I agree that an internet browser should not be part of an operating system. If I ever decide to develop an OS, I'll not include a browser. Microsoft apparently thought otherwise, though, and it is their product, to develop as they like. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. -Bertrand Russell |

Microsoft started including it's browser with Windows to compete with Netscape, then a very popular browser. In fact this was one of the key elements in the federal government (US) filing anti-trust charges against Microsoft several years ago. |

There's the right way, wrong way and the way Microsoft always tries to force THEIR way. Their next to useless UAC a prime example of forcing users into something they neither asked for or wanted. |

You want to list the ten thousand or so posts the fanboy crowd have exploited to bash Linux, and tell people dumb things like nobody forced you to install Vista? Well do you? People that mindlessly call others trolls are weak minded and lack debating skills. If the shoe fits, wear it. |

If any of us were the slightest bit interested in Linux we would not be on a Vista NG but on a Linux one. No one here want to ask a question only to have you or Alias wade in with you constant sales pitch for other systems or to hear you endless condemnation of their chosen system. You seem to be brain dead to me because you ignore pleas to go away. -- Ian |
