| Guest | "No Shortcut" Documents I have sent numerous questions in regards to Documents... Windows XP has a feature where you can right click Documents then click on "Show on Desktop"... Windows Vista has to display Documents as a "shortcut".... are there ways to put Documents on the Desktop by not having it be a shortcut.... thanks again for any insight someone might provide... | Guest | Re: "No Shortcut" Documents Your User's files folder shortcut in the Start Menu has the command "Show on Desktop", when you right-click it. In the Start Menu, look for your user name at the top of the list on the right-hand side. Just as XP's My Documents was the Main container for My Music, My Pictures, etc., in Vista the (Your Name) folder is the Main container for Music, Pictures, etc. Since Documents is a shell subfolder of the (Your Name) folder, a shortcut to it can't be created without an arrow overlay. The (Your Name) folder won't have this overlay, and is a "special icon" like Computer, Recycle Bin, Control Panel, etc. Short of some sort of registry manipulation, I suppose, there's no way to change this.
