Installing programs to a mapped drive

We have just begun testing Vista, and we're having difficutly getting any
client / server (Time in a Box, Microsoft Dynamics SL, ect. ) software to
install. It appears that the programs see Vista's mapped drives as UNC
locations, and the installations fail. I've tried using the netuse command
and tried running the programs as the administrator, but haven't had any
success.

I'm sure I'm just missing something basic, any help would be great.

Re: Installing programs to a mapped drive

The 3 possible solutions are:
1) Turn off UAC
Disable User Account Control in Windows Vista

2) Start an 'elevated' command prompt, map the drive using NET USE, then start the installer as a child process of that command prompt

3) Tell Windows Vista to share mapped drives between security tokens by adding the registry value 1 for value name EnableLinkedConnections at key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
After you turn on User Account Control in Windows Vista, programs may be unable to access some network locations
