    Phone Dialer

    Greetings,

Our phone system is setup to prevent the user from dialing a 1 for long
distance. How can I get Outlook to dial a long-distance number without the 1
(without entering every single area code in the US)?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Open Phone and Modem Options in Control Panel. The Dialing Rules tab,
should show the area code in which you reside, if not, you need to add it
after which you should click edit. Go to the Area Code Rules tab and click
New. I believe at the bottom of this tab is where you make that change.
Unfortunately, it may require a designation.

I've gotten you into the area where it appears the change should be made but
I think you should take this question to microsoft.public.outlook and/or
microsoft.public.outlook.contacts for better help with this issue as they
may know a way to create an all encompassing dialing rule.

I don't know how, or even whether, you can, but you'd be much more
likely to get the answer you need if you asked in an Outlook group,
rather than here in a Vista one.
