I can't Uninstall

I installed AVG antivirus and a bunch of other programs in Windows XP, then
upgraded to Vista. Vista was not compatible with AVG antivirus - and it also
would not let me un-install the program (it was stuck), but no other virus
software wold install with AVG still being present (I am in a paradox now).
So I am manually removing the folder under program files, I’ve been locked
out of non-essential folders and it’s very fustrating. Every time I try to
delete these folders I do not have the permissions. Please help, I don’t know
what to do.

AVG *is* Vista Compatible.

Re: I can't Uninstall

Hi,

And you have got permissions enough ? How to check:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308418/en-us

Second question is: are there any files inside this folder? if yes, and an
exe or dll files then ... try to do next step and after reboot delete folder
again.

Besides if you deleted all files "by hand" in system registry you've got
real mess. You should remove all registry keys related to AVG. You didnt
write what version it was, but check link below - it's for AVG v7.
http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/re...backpage=9,sv=

A propos - antiviruses will check registry keys to detect if there are any
other AV apps so this part is important.

RE: I can't Uninstall

If you do what you are doing: Go to C > Program files.

AVG does not allow you to get rid of everything. Open the AVG folder,
right-click and delete files one at a time. 5 minutes work!

While you are there, do the same with the Grisoft Folder in Program files;
again one at a time.

That is enough removed to allow you to install another anti-virus like AVAST
You can go into the registry if you like, but it is not necessary.
