Re: Wanna hear a good one? Microsoft support claims a 3 seat license...

David;
"Office for Students and Teachers" is what you need to look for:
http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal...s/default.aspx

1.1 and 1.2 are applicable.
However there is no restriction such as laptop/portable.
As I read, you can install on 3 portables, or 3 desktops or any
combination as long as it is only installed on 3 computers.

Perhaps the tech confused this from the Microsoft Office 2007
agreement:
"a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software
on the
licensed device.
b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device
for
use by the single primary user of the licensed device."

Re: Wanna hear a good one? Microsoft support claims a 3 seat license...

Dave;
And you are wrong.
Whatever information led you to believe that is incorrect.
You can activate as many time as you want and move from computer to
another all you want.
Which means when you install it on a 4th computer, you need to remove
it from one of the others.
But you can not have Office for Student and Teachers installed on more
than 3 computers at a time.
You may need to call for activation, but it will activate as long as
you follow the agreement.

LOL ... they don't have to. You did it to yourself when you made the
purchase.

ah, on the 2007 item you quoted, is that a one seat license agreement,
as opposed to a 3 seat? IF that's the case, I can see how that could
have conceivably got the support person on the wrong wavelength.

thanks. and that's precisely what I expected. The lady that was
conferenced in with Sam and I explained the licensing just as you have,
which coincides precisely with my expectations.

Dave;
The second is retail Office Professional.
One license good for install on a desktop and a portable.
Intended for the same person on both.

It's a control issue <g> Some here are worse than others -- luckily I
use an Off Line Reader in the Newsgroups and it has Kill Subject and
Kill Author (not literally although there are times when I wish it
was).

If you had direct posts asking questions that you had already answered on
the NG perhaps you would politely ask for it to stop. And please look at all
the help I do give as opposed to David's useless remark followed by Hugh's
inane response.

I have it in abundance little man. Although I am heartily sick of people
like you, Adam and Alias as was coming here just to shower crap by the
bucket load when other people just try to get help and others like me to
give. Go somewhere else to spread you crap.
