Of course. No argument from me. That's why I recommended using a
killfile, "imperfect as it is." I use it extensively myself, mostly
for the trolls here in this newsgroup.

This newsgroup gets bogged down with guys like Jupiter that insist on
trying to be a net cop attempting to redirect people to other groups
if he thinks they shouldn't post here. Ditto when you hear MVPs asking
"...didn't you do research first?" and other annoying condescending
remarks that help nobody and only serve to feed their already bloated
egos.

Don't blame the messenger, I'm simply exposing the problem.

As far as trolls, that is in the eye of the beholder. Nobody is a
bigger troll than the idiot Frank. Yet none of the gutless wonder
fanboys ever object to his vile postings which in that twit's mind
only encourages him to continue. You reap what you sow. If you thing
the value of this newsgroup is headed South put the blame where it
belongs.

Learn to use a killfile. Better yet, get a more powerful newsreader
that can killfile by subthread and you'll not only not see the trolls,
nor will you see anyone that is replying to them.

And Bob, if you also noticed, it's probably the same 6 or 8 posters that do
respond to those labelled trolls by others here. While they *say* 'go away,
and don't come back', that's just a line, as they truly must enjoy the
'troll fighting' to keep it going by responding in the manner that is
chosen.

And honestly, it's pretty hard for me to see why there are complaint's
about it, as usually just by looking at the subject of the thread, it's
very easy to tell if it's an actual thread, or it's some long drawn out
pi**ing match.

I use XNews which has extensive scoring, and have been doing usenet for 15
years, and there are not even any entries.

I don't understand people like you. Who forces you to read each post and
every thread and you have all kinds of tools, from killfiles to mark
conversation/post as read or simply move your mouse to another one and
ignore, except you may not have the will to use it.

In this case, I can't resist my urge to read and reply, and whether it's
good or bad, it is nobody's fault but my own decision.

Not that I endorse Alias, but are you going to block everyone you don't like
and what will be your standards that would be "fair"?
