| | Re: Greyed Out Notification Area check boxes Although you uninstalled the PowerChute software, it did not uninstall the 'driver'. You will need to remove the driver. On my machine with an APS UPS I needed to find Batteries in the Device Manager. If it says HID UPS Battery and the Driver is provided by Microsoft 6.0.6000.16553 then you should be getting the power icon. If it is something else (from PowerChute probably) you need to Uninstall that driver (not just disable it). After you uninstall the driver, you will need to reboot (I think) and then the system will find the built in driver and get back to default Microsoft operations. (Currently your system sees two drivers for the 'Batteries' device, the PowerChute is the 'newer, better' one so that is what is being used.) If the reboot doesn't find the device, Scan for new hardware in the Device Manager / Action button. Doing a system save before you start this fix so you could restore if something goes wrong here would be a good idea ![]() Michael Vista Home premium "ptr727" <ptr727.3175v2@xxxxxx-mx.forums.net> wrote in message news tr727.3175v2@xxxxxx-mx.forums.net...Quote: > > I had the power icon, then I installed APC PowerChute Personal Edition, > then uninstalled it, now my power icon is missing. > > Vista Ultimate x64 USB UPS. > > Anybody found out how to get the power option reenabled yet? > > > -- > ptr727 |
