FTP is a a method to move files, any file, and it doesn't care about the
contents. You can upload your RESPONSE FORM via FTP without any problem.

Now if you wanted to write "I need to fill out my response form using
FTP and it doesn't work" - that would be true, but then neither would
drag/drop.

You need to undstand that you CAN FTP your folder with ALL of your site
from your computer to your WEB server and it will work, it's just like a
Drag/Drop....

Next thing you need to learn is how to write real website code without
using FP, you can do everything in NotePad also.

Re: MVP's were are you

I've never used publisher but,
instead of trying to add ftp://breladecockerspaniels.co.uk
to network places, try adding
www.breladecockerspaniels.co.uk

Re: MVP's were are you

You have gone over my head.

All i know is i am getting error 404 on my "Contact Us" page when i submit
form, the form has uploaded but will not work, i have contacted my server: no
joy, i have posted on Publisher new group, no one there knows about Vista and
how to upload in http, told to post in Vista news group, Vista network
disscusions no joy there.

i have done my research with Microsoft and have been told ftp will corrupt
FPSE, it needs to be in http!!!!!!!!!. AM I THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD that
has Publisher & response form on it using Vista.

I am presently uploading in ftp as a stop gap to get it on the web, but need
this response form to work, which it has done in the past with (XP) but i
cannot find away to point my site to my server with the address
http://breladecockerspaniels.co.uk

I have all the info required once the connection is made to upload, but do
not understand why i just cannot input any address in a new connection

Again many thanks for your help, but it has to be basic, if i knew about web
design i would not be using publisher, i would use dreamweaver / FP etc

Publisher is a graphics program, not a web page layout program.

As for FTP corrupting - pardon me, but that's BULL-SHIp.

No person designing websites used Publisher to PUSH content to the site,
at least not any person that cares.

FTP IS THE PROPER METHOD AND WORKS NO MATTER WHAT PLATFORM YOU DESIGN
IN.

Re: MVP's were are you

Leythos.

I know Publisher is not a proper web design programe, but it has the ability
to produce a resonable web site for the novice builder.

FTP will not work with a form on Publisher, it has to be in http for FPSE to
work.

If your domain hosting account has FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE)
installed you can upload your web site files in the HTTP Protocol. When FPSE
is loaded on your account it is recommended that you use HTTP uploads
exclusively because using FTP at any time may corrupt the FPSE files.

You must understand that the server processing functionality provided by
FPSE requires HTTP publishing to deliver that functionality - (from Microsoft)

I do not dissagree that ftp is the correct format, but unfortunatly with
publisher & forms in must be http for it to work.

I either get error 404 or FPSE cannot run from this page.

Back to the original question: Why can't i input an http address in add a
new network connection.

In add new connection it ask's: Specify the location of your website / type
the address of the web site, ftp location or network location that this
shortcut will open.

I don't know if you have tried to add an http address, but when i do it,
it returns "the folder you entered does not appear to be valid, please
choose another".

Cheers
