16 Bit Program

Is there anyway I can get a 16 bit program to run in vista? The program is
a transport link between Timeslips 2008 and QuickBooks 2007. It freezes
every time it starts the link to QuickBooks. Any help is appreciated.

Are you using 64-bit Vista? If you are, the answer is no.

The best solution is install MS VirtualPC 2007, which is free, and then
install Win9x/2000/XP on that and run it from there. It's a very neat
solution to your problem.

Re: 16 Bit Program

I did, and it is neat. I installed XP as the OS. The program runs, but the
problem is that Timeslips and QuickBooks are installed on Vista so it cannot
identify the paths to them. I tried sharing the folders with mapped drives,
but that doesn't work. The only way I would be able to have this work is to
install Timeslips and QuickBooks on the Virtual PC, which I am hesitant to
do. These programs and their data are very important, and I do not know
what the pros and cons of setting it up this way. I use them all day, every
day, as well as access them remotely. Any feedback would be appreciated.

You cannot use paths to other programs from VirtualPC, but you can for data.
So I see no reason why you cannot install these programs on the VirtualPC
and maybe still use the data for these programs from the Vista host
(assuming that you would still want to use those programs on the Vista
machine.

If you are using VirtualPC, make sure you install the Additions on the guest
OS, from the menu. The makes it a lot better to use.
