Unable to open a .doc

Hi

I've been trying to open a file from the NHS public website which ends .doc
(says the type is doc_auto_file) without success.

When I click to open or save a message comes up saying "Internet Explorer
wants to open web content - NAME - Windows Wordpad Application / Publisher -
Microsoft Windows" & get to choice to allow or not allow. When I click on
"allow" all that comes up in the document is a random selection of
letters/numbers/symbols.

Can anyone please advise on a way round this on vista (without resulting to
getting rid of it!!) - I have Microsoft Office Word 2007 already installed on
my computer as thought that would enable to open these documents.

Hope someone can help

What's the URL to the document? I'll have a look.

Re: Unable to open a .doc

Paul - think I've sorted it - seems it was to do with "compatability" of
documents - thanks for the offer of help though - much appreciated.
