| Guest | Safe Mode I have been trying to get to safe mode on my computer, Help and Support says press F8 during boot up. But hthe problem is that my devices (mouse and keyboard) aren't yet active. Is there another way to get the safe mode? -Randall |

| Guest | Re: Safe Mode Safe mode requires a keyboard press. You must be using a USB keyboard to have this problem. You can go into the computer bios (then again, maybe not as this also requires a keyboard entry to do so) and make certain that any entries for legacy USB devices are set to allow. You may need an older PS/2 keyboard to do this initially. You can also go into msconfig (Start | search msconfig, press enter when highlighted), use the boot tab, and set the computer to safe boot. When you are done, don't forget to change this setting back to normal boot. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) "UnknownTBeast" <UnknownTBeast@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EE695686-1572-4D2C-BFBC-26217ADA0213@microsoft.com... >I have been trying to get to safe mode on my computer, Help and Support >says > press F8 during boot up. Best to first try taking them off and putting them back again. -- Ian With patience there is always a way. Please Reply to Newsgroup so all can read. | Guest | RE: Safe Mode Thanks for the help, I -did the workaround thru msconfig, but the real question now is I CAN get to the BIOS, but after that it won't work. But I will try to check out theose BIOs settings, Thanks, Randall "UnknownTBeast" wrote: > I have been trying to get to safe mode on my computer, Help and Support says > press F8 during boot up. | Guest | Re: Safe Mode Hi Randall-- I wonder what you are trying to ultimately get done in the first place by going to safe mode. Maybe if you tell us we can help. I keep waiting for the day when PS/2 goes the way of the dodo, but, if it's required for this, then I doubt it will...? Or, is there another way to get there? -Thufir |
