RE: Upgrade your flash player in media centre.AGAIN!!!!!!!!

There are 2 parts to the Flash Player--Flash Player Active X & Flash Player
Plugin and both need to be installed. Also check uninstall programs in
Control Panel. Remove both there before installing the new versions, since
installing the new versions won't remove the old. Make sure the old
Macromedia Shockwave is also removed since Adobe has taken that over and
replaced it.

Re: Upgrade your flash player in media centre.AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Is your operating system 32-bit? If so, try this.

Uninstall "Adobe Flash Player Active X" in Control Panel\Add or Remove
Programs, if it exists.

In the Registry editor, go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution
Units\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}

In the Left-hand pane, right-click on the key (folder) named
{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}, and choose Delete.

Then download and run this first, from
Adobe:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...ash_player.exe

Then, for Internet Explorer, try the standalone installer. This is the
latest version (Adobe Flash Player 9.0.47.0), from Adobe:

http://download.macromedia.com/get/f...r_active_x.exe

Before running either of the above .exe files, right-click on them, choose
Properties, and click on the Unblock button, then Apply, and then OK (you
can also check the Digital Signatures tab to check to see that is signed by
Adobe Systems Incorporated). When running either file, right-click on it,
and choose Run as Administrator.

Run the uninstaller from the Adobe site again. It should clear everything
out. You may be breaking Flash by using the Disk Cleanup Wizard - "Remove
Program Files". This used to break Flash so that the webpage installer
still thought it was installed, but it was in fact broken. I do not know if
the Disk Cleanup Wizard still breaks Flash like that as I have stopped using
that bit.

Re: Upgrade your flash player in media centre.AGAIN!!!!!!!!

I'm glad to hear things are working. Thanks for posting back. Synapse
Syndrome had a good point about the Disk Cleanup Wizard, and the warning
about cleaning the Downloaded Program Files folder. It's a
not-very-well-named special system folder (it used to be called Occache)
that stores information and files for your Internet Explorer ActiveX
plug-ins. Deleting the files in that folder will effectively disable the
add-ons, like Flash Player, until they are re-installed.
