everything "has stoped working"

Ok this is a problem I've had since installing vista ultimate. When I
run a program, let's use Nero for an example, I open it then it
immediately says Nero has stopped working then it tries to see if
there is a solution to which there never is. Then it gives me only one
option to close program.
See the thing is a lot of programs are now starting to do it. I used
to just find other programs to do the job I wanted doing but its
getting harder because it's getting worse.
I don't know if it is a common problem but if anybody has had the same
problem and managed to solve it, I would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance

Re: everything "has stoped working"

Sounds like you did a upgrade and not a clean install.
Do you know what version of Nero you are running?

Re: everything "has stoped working"

hi ,
it might be worth pointing out that alot of major program manufactures
have released new versions of there software to suit vista and at the same
time released updated versions of there older software for xpnero is one
nokia another .i made the mistake of downloading the updated version of nero
for xp instead of the vista version .it might be worth checking which one you
have ,aswell as the other software you are running .''vista user is correct
in saying that a clean install of vista is always preferable to an upgrade
