| | Screensaver I have Microsoft Vista Home Premium and i have setup a screensaver so that after i am idle for 5 minutes, it displays the logon screen and asks for a password. However, this never happens and i do not understand why. The screensaver never appears, and therefore you never have to enter a password. What can i do? |

| | Re: Screensaver Hello, It seems that there is some device in your system that constantly wakes up your computer, causing it not to be idle anymore. This might be your NIC card or something else. One way of finding the culprit is by opening up Device Manager > Network Adaptors (well you have to do this step for every hardware that might cause the computer to come out of sleep but here I'm just giving an example of the NIC) > Find your NIC adaptor that you use > Double click on it > Power Management tab > Uncheck 'allow this device to wake the computer' > Click OK and close device manager. Hope this helps. -- Best Regards, Rishi email: rishi@vista-news.com | web: http://vista-news.com "akash123" <akash123@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:59C4BE32-EBF0-4964-AB42-8B41F7E5AE30@microsoft.com... >I have Microsoft Vista Home Premium and i have setup a screensaver so that > after i am idle for 5 minutes, it displays the logon screen and asks for a > password. | | Re: Screensaver In addition to noting Rishi's advice, Do you have a wireless mouse? If you do: Make sure your mouse's wireless receiver is plugged in and active (this is important). Go to Control Panel (Classic View) > Windows Update. Click on Check for Updates. Choose to install the Optional Hardware Update called "Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter". Your screensaver, with a wireless mouse, should now work. The screen saver does not work when you use a Microsoft wireless pointing device on a Windows Vista-based computer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911895 "akash123" <akash123@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:59C4BE32-EBF0-4964-AB42-8B41F7E5AE30@microsoft.com... >I have Microsoft Vista Home Premium and i have setup a screensaver so that > after i am idle for 5 minutes, it displays the logon screen and asks for a > password. | | Re: Screensaver Unfortunately, i neither have a wireless mouse nor any device that is allowed to wake the computer ( i checked all devices on the device manager) except the keyboard and mouse. Is there anything else I can try? "Rishi" wrote: > Hello, > > It seems that there is some device in your system that constantly wakes up > your computer, causing it not to be idle anymore.
