| | Re: Screen saver on laptop won't activate Denise, IF <-- you are using a wireless mouse, especially one where the receiver is a USB "dongle", e.g., Microsoft Notebook mouse, then it is most likely the reason your screensaver isn't kicking in. And, you might also find "sleep" won't work either. The reason is that the signal that is sent to/from the mouse from the receiver is seen by the O/S as activity and thus it prevents the screensaver from starting. | Vista Business 32-bit | Re: Screen saver on laptop won't activate I had this problem for months, and I could not find a solution until recently. Try this: run C:\Windows\system32\mblctr.exe. This will open the program "Windows Mobility Center". In the bottom right corner of the screen you will see "Presentation Settings". Click on the projector icon to display your Presentation Settings. Uncheck "I am currently giving a presentation" and "Turn off screen saver". I have two VAIO notebooks running Vista Business and both of these options were checked on both notebooks. Once I unchecked these two options I have not had a problem activating my screen saver since. I hope this helps some of you. |
