Vista - Artifact on screen - ???

Artifact on screen - ???

This morning when I started up several programs, all of them had a
sorta half rectangle in the center of the screen. The artifact did
not appear on the desktop itself, but was smack in the middle of every
program. It disappeared on reboot. Any idea what might have caused
this? I've never seen anything like it before...

First thing I would suspect would be the video card driver or the video
card itself.
