I bought my laptop back in April and had the same problem for the first month where the taskbar was useless, and in my case, had a strange jumbled appearance where minimized items overlapped but were un-clickable. The problem in my case was the Firefox web browser. If I didn't use it, the problem never happened. Unfortunately, as you may have seen on another post, I also have problems with the Internet Explorer version 7 web browser which have not been resolved. You may want to try Opera or Safari as alternates if you have the same problem as me where letters are dropped when typing in a text box on a web page with Internet Explorer. If you have not downloaded Firefox and have never used it on your current laptop, then obviously this is not your problem. In that case try this: disable all graphics goodies by setting to Windows Classic, or something like that. Then, disable as many startup programs as you can. Then disable browser add-ons. When you are finished, you may solve the problem, but your computer will be no fun. Sorry, if I sound a little bitter about the Vista experience ![]() Actually, It is growing on me now. I hope they fix everything soon. |

Hi Tom, I don't have a solution for the specific problem you're seeing. But you *might* be able to get some more info about the problem, this way: - go to Start menu, Control Panel; - click on System and Maintenance - under Problem Reports and Solutions, click on View Problem History - investigate any problems that are listed. It could be something like Explorer hitting a memory access violation. You can also use the "Check for new solutions" link to see if there is a hotfix for the problem. If the laptop is still only a couple of weeks old, it might still be under warranty, you could return it to the vendor for support. What brand and model is it?
