How to remove recycle bin?

Not sure how to remove it from desktop? I know there is an option somewhere to hide desktop icons. I don't want them all gone, just the recycle bin.

Just right click it and select delete, it will have the same effect as
removing the check under personalize. Note however, your deleted items will
still go first to the recycle bin unless you first change its settings in
its properties to NOT send deleted files to the Recycle Bin.

Hi gizbug,

You can just right click the Recycle Bin and click Delete to remove it. If you want to ever bring it back, see this link for how:

Two months ago my Vista had the problem, for which you describe the
solution in that link, but it did not work in my case.
I had to find a system restore point that fixed the problem.
It thus still remains a mystery why the recycle bin suddenly stopped
refreshing automatically.

Hi Marco,

It sometimes is caused when the Recycle Bin is accidently deleted. However in your case, it could of been some incompatible program that may have caused it. Do you remember if you installed or changed anything right before this happened? With Vista, it could be a number of things that can affect the refreshing. Wish I had a more specific answer for you.
