Vista network sharing

Okay my XP machines now see the vista computer under View Network Computers,
nut when I double click to open the Vista computer, it asks for a password, I
never set a passowrd into the Vista computer, not even on computer logon, why
is this?

RE: Vista network sharing

I think that's part of the Vista's User Account Control. I recall reading
something when I set up my network for file and printer sharing that users
have to have passwords. However, I think it will accept a blank as the
password if you don't have one associated with you user name. I removed the
password associated with my user account (administrator) and I don't have any
problem opening workgroup computers on the network for file or printer
sharing. Try just filling in your user name and leaving the password blank
and click OK.
