| | Cursor repositions on its own I have a new Toshiba Satellite A215 with Vista HP. No matter what program I am in, including the Internet, my cursor repositions itself every couple of letters or words as I am typing. Suddently letters start appearing in the middle of another word. This happens constantly and it has even Sent email messages on it's own while I am typing! Must be Gremlins. Anyway this is very annoying and I noticed another post similar on 4/18/07 without any solution. No I am not touching the touchpad by mistake. I have read the User Guide on various functions as well as Mouse controls and can find nothing to help me. So...HELP ME! (It's even repositioning as I type this!) Yikes! -- Julie |

From what I understand, they do not offer technical assitance for Vista, just for their hardware. You may want tio talk to Microsoft instead. You'd be far better off upgrading to XP or 2003 or even 2000, and get much more of your bucks worth. Otherwise you're really wasting your nice new CPU's potential. |

| | Re: Cursor repositions on its own Go here and click on Tech Support Center in Left Menu and enter your model - download and update ALL drivers and utilities. If using a 3rd party Rodent/Keyboard get those from the maker's site. This fixed up my problems on a P205-6267. BTW if using a Logitech setup these are not yet Vista Compatible. | | Re: Cursor repositions on its own My old PC was an XP and I am hoping Vista is much better. Since the post on 4/18 was Vista related, this problem may be as well. I certainly intend to take my problem further but am hoping a knowledgeable user is out there who has experienced this problem and found a fix. Keeping my fingers crossed for now! -- Julie "Wayne M. | | Re: Cursor repositions on its own Perhaps, since your new PC is a laptop with a touchpad, are you accidently brushing against the touchpad while typing? Maybe there's a way to adjust the sensitivity. Apart: "Upgrading" from where to where? XP an "upgrade" for Vista? "2003" (only available as *Server*OS*) on a laptop? Come on .. Not to good recommendations IMHO. Sometimes "Put brains gear prior to posting" applies <gbg,d&rvvvvf>. Sorry, could not resist <siiiigh> Rainald |

Actually 2003 works quite well on some laptops I tested it on. Yes, not everyone can easily get it, thats why most recommend XP or even 2000. And yes many consider Vista a downgrade, considering all the problems with it and inexcusable imcompatiblities. |

| | RE: Cursor repositions on its own Did you try buying a new mouse? All mouse problems I have found are just that - mouse problems. Sometimes when an optical mouse is failing then it starts roaming because the light is getting some type of interference. You can disable the touchpad when an external mouse in installed. Just go to the Control Panel and the option is there. My problem went away when I bought a new MS mouse and disable the touchpad. "Julie" wrote: > I have a new Toshiba Satellite A215 with Vista HP.
