| | Vista updates I am having a strange problem. None of my programs are updating ie: vista, quicken, norton. The updates download but never install. When running update again I am told that I have all the current updates but they are not there. I can not get updates to my bank accounts virius dats nothing. Vista updates show that they are downloaded and installed but when update runs the same updates show up as needed. I have a clean vista install as my computer is only 6 weeks old. I am quickly growing fed up with vista. -- steve55 |

You mention having Norton. We have found that both Norton and McAfee can interfere with these functions. Try temporarily disabling Norton, if you have more than the Antivirus, disable that as well and see if you can get your other applications to update and properly install the updates. If that doesn't resolve it, it may be a security issue related to UAC, User Account Control. Try temporarily turning off UAC and then see if you can get your applications to properly update. Open User Accounts in Control Panel, click Turn User Account Control on or off and temporarily turn it off. Then, see if you can get your apps to install the updates. NOTE: in all instances above, you may need to redownload the updates in order to test if they will auto install since once on your system, they often require a manual installation. -- Michael Solomon Backup is a PC user's best friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ |
