SP 1 for Vista

Service Pack 1 for Vista

I contacted Dell to inquire as to when they will start shipping Vista with
SP 1. I was told that Vista does not use SP 1. They said all upgrades and
updates are done via normal download updates.

So, my questions are:

1. Is it true that Vista does not use Service Packs to update major changes?
2. And, if Vista does use a Service Pack, do you know when it might be
released?

Thanks,
Jerry

No. However no Vista Service Packs have yet been released.

Rumor has it early next year. But there are no guarantees. When it's
released it's released.

SP1 has no release date as of yet. Eventually there will be one.
Corporate purchasers often wait for SP1 before deploying new OS's, so
you can bet that MS wants to get SP1 out the door ASAP to increase their
sales.

Just be patient and some day you'll be getting SP1 thru Windows Update.

The full Vista SP1 is some way off yet, but there are two major Vista
fix packs that should be included in next weeks regular Windows
Update. They are described as Performance and Reliability packs, and
are said to be some of the fixes that have been identified for
inclusion in SP1.

You can also download them manually now. There are links to the two
packs on this page.

Hope this helps.

Re: SP 1 for Vista

Thanks to all for your replies. My plan was to wait until Dell started
shipping SP 1 and then purchase a new computer.
