Vista Tutorial - Desktop icons change size willy-nilly

This often happens when I close out an app. The icons get smaller all by
themselves. Anybody know how I can lock in the size so it stays put?

If the application you open changes the screen resolution (many games do
this) when you close the app the resolution will change back to the preset
resolution.

Doesn't seem to have anything to do with resolution, which isn't changing.
It's just the desktop icons that get smaller.
