Yahoo Messenger

I have a new laptop with Vista and I downloaded yahoo messenger v.8.1 and
everything went well. The problem came in after I opened a chat session with
another person. The box opened, I typed in my message, after selecting send
or enter, nothing shows up in the box. You can see at the bottom where it
says the other person is typing a message but again nothing is showing up. No
conversation at all. I went under the properties and select the enabling
scripting, still did not work. I selected it again and re-booted but the same
results. Can someone tell me whatelse I should try?

Re: Yahoo Messenger

You will have to wait until Yahoo releases a Vista compatible version of Yahoo
Messenger.

Can you use Windows Live Messenger?

Re: Yahoo Messenger

I tried to download it and it failed. I read on another post that says the
Vista version will be released june 2007. I guess that hasn't happened yet.

Uninstall all of the yahoo stuff that installed along with Messenger, as
well as messenger itself. do a custom install and deselect all extras.
don't have any other programs running when u run the install. I had the
very same problem about 3 months ago. Messenger works flawlessly for me
since I installed it "bare". All of its features work fine--voice,
webcam, file transfer, photo sharing and conferences. What happened is
your install went "kaflooey" (a highly techinical term. )
