Vista Tutorial - system restore not working

I am trying to use my system restore on my new computer with Vista. When I
try to use system restore it says that there are no backups available. Then
when I go into System Properties to make sure that it is turned on, in the
box where it checks for Automatic restore points, it keeps saying that it is
searching for available disks, but never displays any. I know that a few
weeks ago it was working when I checked it.

Just to be clear, when you open System Properties - System Protection it
starts scanning of available drives?

When there, are there any Available Disks visible, and are any of them checked?

Hi Bert--
No, it doesn't show any drives available when it opens -- it just says that
it's searching for available drives and it keeps searching (I've waited about
10 minutes) and doesn't stop. Thanks.
