I can only address the failure on my computer and the corrective action taken. After installing .NET Framework 1.1 and later 2.0, I uninstalled version 1.0. I noticed that a directory named c:\windows\Microsoft net\framework\V1.0.3705 was still present so I manually deleted it. No adverse effects observed. When I tried to install the latest V 1.1 update, the update failed. I compared 2 systems, one which applied the update correctly and another which did not and noticed the named directory had not been deleted on the system that successfully applied the update. I copied the directory to the failing system and the update installed. Admittedly, this failure occurred on an XP system but the directory structure for Vista appears to be the same. Lou |
