| | Re: Error 1920 when trying to use Symantec 10.2 The best suggestion that I can give you is to get rid of Symantec 10.2 and all their products. Use Avast or AVG. They do just as a good job if not better and they do not bloat and do not cause issues. -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. | | Re: Error 1920 when trying to use Symantec 10.2 I would do that but where I work it isn't allowed. I have gone into services and tried to star the service and I get this error: "Windows could not start the Symantec AntiVirus service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly." "Peter Foldes" wrote: > The best suggestion that I can give you is to get rid of Symantec 10.2 and all their products. > > Use Avast or AVG. | | Re: Error 1920 when trying to use Symantec 10.2 I am the IT person, I spent all day Friday on the phone with Symantec and got nowhere! They put out a patch to fix this problem in safe mode but it doesn't do a thing for regular mode. I just thought maybe someone else may have run into the problem and got the issue resolved. I can't offer a solution, but I can say that Symantec Corp edition for Workstations and Servers, 10.2, is working on our Vista Business systems. If you right click the shortcut to start the scan and select Run As Administrator, do you still get the same error. This error number is sometimes an indication of not having the rights to run? Here's a Symantec article that doesn't reference the wording mentioned exactly but it does reference a similar error and their Antivirus: http://entkb.symantec.com/security/o...315571848.html -- Michael Solomon Backup is a PC user's best friend DTS-L.Org: http://www.dts-l.org/ |

| | Re: Error 1920 when trying to use Symantec 10.2 Tried this and nothing works. I have right clicked and chose 'run as admin' and the results are the same. I have noticed that in computer managment there is no user and groups options. | | Re: Error 1920 when trying to use Symantec 10.2 With Symantec 10.2 which is a Corporate version , you might want to call Symantec tech support. Tech support is free with this version unless your copy of 10.2 is not a legal copy and is not registered. This version is much different from the other Norton versions that are available to the public via purchase from retail outlets. Different fixes for this corporate version which is not available to the public and is not posted on the Symantec site.. -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged.
