Vista - Internet Connection Activity Animation

I have attempted to cause the Internet Connection Activity icon in the
notification area to 'blink' as it did in XP and have had no success.

I would right click on the icon; got a drop down menu; then selected 'turn
on activity animation'.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestion. Even sfc /scannow didn't have any effect.
