access denied - in task manager

There are many programs that run poorly on Duel core machines. In my
    case…games.
The way to fix this is to assign the program to only one CPU.
    1. Open task manager (ctrl-alt-del)
    2. Right click the program in the processes list and select “Set Affinity”.
    3. And uncheck one of the CPU’s listed.
My problem is that I am getting an access denied message. I am running as
the administrator (I am the only user on the PC).
Are there hidden permissions that I am not getting? What do I need to do to
    get past this error/message?
Oh, and has the settings been fixed so they do not switch back again to
multi-core use when the program is again started?

    Hi,

Open Task Manager and on the 'Processes' tab, select 'Show processes from
all users' near the bottom on the left. Accept the UAC prompt. This will
run Task Manager with your administrator privileges.

Cool, that worked for getting passed the access denied but it still does not
save the setting. it reverted back to useing both cpu's :-(
Any idea on how to get it to save the setting?
