Vista Remote Desktop

I cannot RDP into my VISTA computer at home remotely. I have configured
my router to allow port 3389 pass-through--however no luck.
Any ideas?
(I can however SUCCESSFULLY RDP into my XP PC)

TIA!

Re: Vista Remote Desktop

I'm assuming when you try to RDP to the Vista computer you've changed the
router to reflect the correct IP address of the Vista computer.

What error do you get on the remote client?

Re: Vista Remote Desktop

Use LogMeIn (http://www.logmein.com ) -- the free version works well for me..........

Re: Vista Remote Desktop

Hi,

Assuming you have Business or Ultimate (as the Home versions do not support
being connected to remotely), make sure in the RD settings that you allow
connections from any version of Windows. You may also need to turn on
Network Discovery in the Network and Sharing Center.

If you are connecting from a work computer that is taken care of by a
network administrator, you may not have the new updated RDP Client 6.0 from
Windows Update. Has it got a new Vista type icon?

Why do they keep complicating things that used to be so straight

Re: Vista Remote Desktop

Hi,

As you have Home Premium, that explains why you cannot use Remote Desktop to
connect to it. Your choices are limited to either upgrading to a version
that offers it (use Anytime Upgrade:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro.../overview.mspx),
or to use a third-party product like VNC (http://www.realvnc.com/). For a RA
(remote assistance) session to work, someone has to be physically at the
receiving machine to acknowledge the request and allow access.
