| | Vista Locks Up or Spontaneously Reboots My Windows Vista Ultimate system either locks up (no response to keyboard or mouse) or currently simply spontaneously reboots every time I go into SQL Server 2005 Management Studio, select a log file, and just scroll throught the log entries. That is literally all I have to do to kill the system??? I've installed the updates described in KB38194 and KB938979 and have loaded the latest updated drivers for my video card. Frankly, this operating system has *never* been particularly stable, but just scrolling the log file blows it every time! Does anyone have a clue as to how I should proceed? I never had any of these problem with W2K. Thanks |

| | Re: Vista Locks Up or Spontaneously Reboots Make sure all your drivers are updated, particularly video and hard drive drivers and utilities. Also look for BIOS updates. | | RE: Vista Locks Up or Spontaneously Reboots Just a quick post to thank Pete138 and Spirit for replying. As it turns out, the problem was either a persistent driver problem or a hardware fault in my video controller. I tried 3 or 4 different versions of drivers for my ATI Radeon video card and had no success. I finally gave up on it and purchased and installed a new Nvidia card and I haven't had a problem since. Thanks again.
