HELP!!!!!! I forgot the password to my ONLY USER ACCOUNT. I have windows
Vista. I cannot operate the computer through any other account, because, i
repeat, there is no other account. Is there any way to recover or reset this
password, even by restoring it to factory settings??

For User type in Administrator

For Password leave it Blank

Try and see if you can enter.

Besides racking your brain to try and remember the password, which I am sure
you have done. The only way to restore to factory settings is to reinstall
Vista, if you have the CD (or recovery CD). Other than that, you can try
this tool to recover your password if you have access to a different computer
in order to do this:

Other options would be to call Windows Vista Support, but that might cost
some money.

Here is another tip once you get your situation resolved. In Windows Vista,
you can create a password recovery disk/Cd if this happens again!!

I searched through some of the answers already posted and it seems that
several people have used this tool to do what you need to do and it seems to
work, I am afraid though, if this does not, you will have to reinstall Vista

Go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

There you will find zip files that will let you create boot floppy disks or
bootable CDs
that will enable you to reset any system password on an NT class
operating system (Win2000, XP and Vista are all NT class operating system).

The 'Knoppix Hacks' book details how to use the Knoppix Live CD to reset
the admin password on xp systems. It may work on vista, as well. You
should also be able to find online info on the, rather simple, process.

Download Linux boot software. This is small bootable software. Make a
bootable cd and boot with the same cd. Follow the instruction and u can
reset all account passwords easily.

ur comp and open a command prompt. Type this


Net user Administrator newpassword

That should set the password to newpassword
