logging in under a hidden account on ultimate

I'm using Vista Ultimate. I created a hidden account. The account is
now hidden but I cannot login into it as I could do via XP i.e by 2 x
Ctrl/Alt/Del. No other account is logged in. I've tried the hidden user
as both admin and user but
to no avail. Win/L also does not work.

Has anyone actually been able to hide the user from the logon\ welcome
screen and then still been able to log into it via the "Welcome Screen"
with
Vista? I could really use some help.

Re: logging in under a hidden account on ultimate

try to press F8 while the system is booting to enter Safe Mode, then check
the user list whether all the users are listed
if Failure, try to see the properties of the user and make sure the the "the
user is stopped" option is not checked

If another failure, I'm sorry!

First, a Warning. Be very careful when hiding user accounts in Vista. If you
hide the only available administrative account, you can effectively lock
yourself out of performing any tasks that require administrative privileges
on the system. This is because the CTRL+ALT+DEL procedure is no longer an
option at the login screen. Also, if you hide the only user created,
visible, administrator account on the system you will not be able to log on
with this account, even in Safe Mode. Also, if you hide the only visible
administrator account, you will also not be able to logon with the Built-in
Administrator account in Safe Mode.

In Vista when you hide a user profile, it is really "hidden". You cannot
access this account in normal or Safe mode.
The old CTRL+ALT+DEL is still available in Vista, but this must be enabled.
If you do enable this option, you will always be required to use it when
logging on.

*Here are the instructions for accomplishing this if you have the Vista
Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise version.

Go to Start and type gpedit.msc and in the results click the GPEdit.MSC
utility to open the group policy editor. Navigate to Local Computer Policy /
Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Local
Policies / Security Policies.

In the right-hand pane look for two policies:

If you simply want the old style logon box to appear, where you must enter a
username and password, change the following policy.

Interactive logon: Do not display last user name - Change to Enabled
Double click this policy to make the changes.
*This will cause the box to display that will require you to enter the user
name and password.*

If you also want to require the users to press CTRL+ALT+DEL at logon, change
the following policy.

Interactive logon: Do not requrie CTRL+ALT+DEL - Change to Disabled
Double click this policy to make the changes.

Exit everything and reboot.

The logon box will not look exactly like the old style XP CTRL+ALT+DEL logon
box, but it will work the same way.
