Seeing XP shares from Vista Solved !!!

Seeing XP shares from Vista Solved !!!

I'm using Vista Home Premium on a home network with XP Pro (SP2)

I was having no luck seeing my XP shares from Vista but had no problem

accessing my Vista shares from the XP machine.

For the fun of it I decided to check my Zone Alarm Logs on the XP
machine to see if the attempts where being made. What did I discover?
Yes they were as well as being allowed.
What I discovered though is that all the connection attempts where
using port 80. Hmmmmm I thought.
I then went back to the XP shares and enabled Web Sharing and turning
on Read and Directory Browsing.
Since I only allow port 80 in my trusted zone I have no real fear of a
breach of my security.

One more item, I had installed "Link-Layer topology Discovery
Responder" from Microsoft onto my XP machine. This as well as insuring
that file and print sharing is turned on is all I ended up doing.

Hope this helps anyone else having the same issues and helps save you
as many hours as I have invested in this.

Respectfully,

Trev
