| | Downloading older software I recently changed from XP to Vista. My problem is that now I can't get the computer to run software that from the old XP days. For example, a two disk set of all the New Yorker cartoons is not acceptable to Vista. Is there anything I can do about this? |

| | Re: Downloading older software Rafsac There are some compatibility options to try. Right click the executable file for the older program and select Properties/Compatibility Tab. There are several options there. Select the Run this program in compatibility mode for: and use the drop down menu to select an older operating system. If you see any error messages about running the program as an administrator, select the Run As Administrator option. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Rafsac" <Rafsac@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2B8E8994-5A99-44AB-AB52-663D36A0A6E5@microsoft.com... >I recently changed from XP to Vista. Is there > anything I can do about this? I have a New Yorker Cartoon CD. The cartoons are just jpg's on the CD. I don't know if your two disks are the same, in terms of how they're laid out, but you might try browsing the CD in Windows Explorer. You might be able to view the cartoons that way. If you have floppy diskettes... you can still try to browse them and see if the cartoons are standard picture format files, as opposed to embedded images in some executable, library, or database file.
