An idle PC will index just as fast whatever the priority of the service, but maybe you could disable the defragging to make things faster. Perhaps you are misunderstanding how priorities work. I do not know the answer, but I am sure I could find out very easily. I just don't think there is any point. ss. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Indexer--how to change priority I saw your other post and this one, and I would just disable the Index. You will get better results with the non-indexed search and you will not have the index always running in the background making your hard drive run like crazy and possibly slowing Vista down some.
