| | ReadyBoost - Cache Exists I just bought a new USB drive (4GB) and am trying to use the ReadyBoost feature. When I go to properties and select ReadyBoost it say "A cache exist on another device in the system". How do I find out what device? I don't have any other USB drive hooked up. I am using Vista Ultimate. |

I am using Vista Ultimate. this feature immediately and this is the message I get. I've tried multiple USB devices which all worked on a previous Vista installation. |

| | Re: ReadyBoost - Cache Exists looking at the thread for this problem, it seems no one has an answer just unrelated / unhelpful comments. Is any one outthere who can provide an answer to the problem of an existing cache being used for readyboost but a user not able to find out what is bveing used ? -- Draig Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| | Re: ReadyBoost - Cache Exists Draig When you reply to a message that is 6 months old, you need to re-state the problem you are having. There are many ways to access these newsgroups and not everyone can see the original message where the problem was described. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Draig" <Draig.364cc8@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news raig.364cc8@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com...Quote: > > looking at the thread for this problem, it seems no one has an answer > just unrelated / unhelpful comments. | | Re: ReadyBoost - Cache Exists Draig This message indicates that there is another device that has either a ReadyBoost cache present or that it has an option to be used as a ReadyBoost drive that is enabled. This can difficult to find. Look in the Device Manager for any memory/drive that is designated as 'turbo memory' or 'Ready Drive'. Look in the properties of the device for an option to use the drive for ReadyBoost. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Draig" <Draig.364osc@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news raig.364osc@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com...Quote: > > I didnt realise. | | Re: ReadyBoost - Cache Exists In the registry, you could try deleting the subkeys of: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\EMDMgmt] That seems to be where readyboost cache info is kept. -- Good Luck, Keith Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] "Draig" <Draig.364osc@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news raig.364osc@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com...Quote: > > I didnt realise. | | Re: ReadyBoost - Cache Exists I have the same problem and have searched various forums for a solution without success. How do I find out which system device another cache exists on so that I can remove it to enable my USB flashdrive to be used to boost the performance of my vista laptop. It used to work fine when Vista was first installed but now I keep getting the same error message and Microsoft support for this error message is non-existent.
