Vista - Vista IS too slow.

I,tried the Vista Ultimate and found following things.
It couldn't read may of my CDs including my original intel motherboard
driver CD.So i was unable install the drivers.Most of the other CDs were
unable to run and if atall they run,they took a vary long time and finally
ended up giving some or other error.I had no problem with the same CDs in XP
with exactly the same hardware configuration and they work extremely fine and
much faster.I'v checked the CDs and they are totally scratch less and without
any dust over them.
Other thing is,if I put my HDD with vista to slave an boot from it,Vista is
extremely slowed down,takes atleast 4 minutes to boot up.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

If you are referring to drivers that worked on XP, they WON'T work on Vista.
You must visit the manufacturer's web sites and download vista specific
drivers. It they don't have them, the hardware may be obsolete. Did you run
the Windows Upgrade Advisor? It would have told you beforehand the drivers
that you would need.

Are we talking about the same PC? Or two different PC's?

Hardware drivers designated for XP may or may not include XP identifiers. If
they don't have identifiers, there is a reasonable chance that they will
work with Vista, as was the case for Canon LiDE scanner drivers and support
programs (although no WIA Vista driver is available).

The best place to get drivers is the manufacturer website, and this applies
even if you have just bought a new piece hardware. Sometimes, these things
can be on the shelf of a retailer for a good few months, and the driver CD
contained in the box will be old.

In some cases, a new driver may be available, but no new support programs,
the items own control panel for instance, in which case you should look to
replacing the hardware item. Yes, it costs, but more often than not you will
get the benefit of a more accomplished piece of hardware.

Placing your Vista drive into another machine and booting from it will see
Vista trying to work out why the hardware drivers it has installed are not
working with the hardware it finds..

I bought a new Dell E520, standard spec, own graphics card with 256, added
RAM up to 4GB and it works very well indeed using Ultimate. Whenever I have
upgraded in the past I have had similar grief and come to this conclusion -
Don't upgrade Windows unless you really have to. Often the next version of
Windows will run on your old PC, however it was never designed to do so and
so you will almost always end up with a pig in a poke.

there are no drivers for the DVD-RW.It's Sony DVD-RW purchased 5 months back
and it says it's vista compatible.
The second question still remains.
And also we are talking about the same machine which had WinXP Pro SP2
before.Then I formatted it and Installed Vista Ultimate Trial.Now again I'v
switched back to XP.
Can you help?
I think yhere's a big problem with vista.I doubt I'll go for it,atleast for
next 2 years.
