Hi Michael, You may need to ask Lowrance about the problem. As per their website, MapCreate has many compatibility issues with Vista. MaCreate 7 does not run at all on Vista, so don't bother upgrading from version 6, just yet! As a first stab ... try turning on Compatibility mode for MapCreate. Highlight the MapCreate icon in the Start menu, then right-click and choose Properties from the context menu. Select the Compatibility tab. Click the check box to trun on Comaptibility mode, and select a suitable version from the dropdown list - say, Windows 95. Hope it helps, -- Andrew McLaren amclar (at) optusnet dot com dot au |

Is there any additonal information in the Runtme error? Like an error code (0xC0000005) or similar? Or, go to Control Panel, System and Maintenance, Problem Reports and Solutions. Under Problem History, you may find more detailed information about the crash. The info might not be very meaningful to and end-user, but it might help support specialists identify the problem. You might also need to use Compatibility Mode to run the Startup.exe from the DVD, itself - right-click the EXE file in Explorer and configure compatibility, as described earlier. Beyond that ... sorry, I dunno. It's the kind of problem which could be easily debugged by a computer technician sitting in front of the machine, but very difficult to solve via newsgroup support. You may need to push Lowrance a bit harder for an answer. Hope it helps a little bit, -- Andrew McLaren amclar (at) optusnet dot com dot au |
