| | WTF is up with my replies to this group? I see some of my replies to threads in this group come thorough ok and yet others don't. I see the thread has a reply from me marked and my sent folder shows it as sent but the actual reply is not showing up. I posted two replies to the best anti virus thread yesterday and neither one shows. My sent folder shows they were sent fine. I re-sent them today so will see what happens. Other groups I don't seem to have this issue. Either my news service is screwing up or someone is cancelling my posts in this group. |

Microsoft filters the posts for language made directly to their servers. If you are using Windows Mail, then you are most likely posting directly to MS's server. If your post contains any common 4 letter "bad" words, it will not show up here. OTOH, if you are using some other news service to post to this group, then your posts should appear in the group on that and other's servers, but it will still not appear on MS's server. So if your posts *originate* with MS's server, they won't appear anywhere if they get filtered. If your posts originate elsewhere, they will appear everywhere *except* MS's server if they get filtered. Mike |

| | Re: WTF is up with my replies to this group? I'm pretty dumb when it comes to newsreaders -- I use Outlook Express. It defaults to only reading maybe 300 headers at a time. In a busy newsgroup like this, some can get 'lost' and you don't see them. Set the number of headers read to 1000, and I doubt you will lose any more messages. If you want to prove to yourself that Microsoft actually got your message, use GROUPS.google.com, and search for something specific to your message in this specific newsgroup. -Paul Randall "Yukon Jack" <NO@EMAIL.HERE> wrote in message news 6mzi.115990$jE4.8964@fe12.news.easynews.com...>I see some of my replies to threads in this group come thorough ok and yet >others don't. Have increased it to 1000 now and will see how that goes, thanks. |

I used to use Agent when I first encountered newsgroups, at university in 1993. But I much prefer the interface of OE/WM. I find it much faster to use, and I hate the old fashioned Win 3.11 style interface of Agent, which has never changed. OE has its problems, and I used to use OE-Quotefix (I should start using it again on this XP machine) and WM has even more annoying bugs, but I have yet to find anything that I like better. ss. |

You need to change it so it doesn't get any specific number of headers... uncheck the box on the Read tab for "get X headers at a time" and you'll get all headers. Went through this myself... that was the fix for me. Good luck, Lang |

Agent is a product that has been around for many, many years and even has a free version called Free Agent. Even more people use it than the pay version. |

For binary files I use a dedicated binary grabber. I like Windows Mail because it integrates into Windows Search on Vista, Agent doesn't. I just overlooked the amount of headers I was downloading at a time. Issue is now solved. |

Not only that but Forte changed calling new servers to Desks and groups to Folders on the last version I used. Weird change and for no good reason too. |
