| | 1) Start menu stuck on classic view 2) Can't create restore point Hi, I've been running Vista Business (new laptop, clean install) for about two months and have two issues: 1) My start menu seems to be corrupted/stuck on classic view. There is no option to switch it back to the original view. Under taskbar and start menu properties/start menu, the only visible button is the "Classic Start menu" button, which is of course checked. Any idea how I can regain the option to switch back to the standard Vista start menu? 2) I can no longer create restore points. It seems to be working automatically, such as when I use windows update, but when I try to manually create one I get an error - after entering a description for the restore point, I receive the message: Could not create the scheduled task for the following reason: The request is not supported (0x80070032). Thanks... |

| | RE: 1) Start menu stuck on classic view 2) Can't create restore point I've got the same problem with the Start menu (Windows Home Premium) - I changed the Start Menu to the Classic View, then decided I prefer the new Start Menu, but can't find a way to change it back. Have you found a solution? Many thanks - Stan "bwf888" wrote: Quote: > Hi, I've been running Vista Business (new laptop, clean install) for about > two months and have two issues: > > 1) My start menu seems to be corrupted/stuck on classic view. | | Re: 1) Start menu stuck on classic view 2) Can't create restore po Many thanks for your reply, Frank, but that didn't work for me nor for bwf888. It is the method I used to activate the classic menu. However, now that the Classic start menu has been activated, after right-clicking the Start orb and choosing Properties, only one button appears, for the Classic start menu. The button that I expected to appear above that, which would allow us to select the Vista start menu, no longer shows up. Likewise, there is also only one box to Customize, placed to the right of the Classic start menu, and offering only customizations available in the Classic start menu. I guess I could work around the issue by setting up a new user account, copying all the files in my current user account to the new account, re-selecting all my preferences, then deleting the old user account and renaming the new user account - not too elegant, so I'm hoping not have to go that route. Any other suggestions?
