You cannot unless Nortel releases a 64-bit version.

I tried to run the latest nortel version for vista v6.07.027 with vista ultimate 64. The install fails with msg "Installation of the Contivity VPN Client Driver failed". Running the install in xp compatability mode fails also, saying it is only for vista. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929490 says 64 bit support shoudl be available 11/30/07, but does not provide any other info. Has anyone been successful with this? I really do not want to mess with setting up the pc as dual boot.
I have a simular problem with Nortel VPN client. The error I get is the following:
- “This version of the Contivity VPN Client can only be installed on Vista.”
- “If this is a Vista system, turn off compatibility mode for the CVC installer (typically this is eac607d.exe).”
I am trying to find out when Nortel will release a version for Vista X64

I have found a temporary solution to the VPN Client not running under Wx64. I have install MS Virtual PC with W2K. This is allowing me to do two necessary things. First with W2K running I can install the VPN Client. Second, I can run IE 6 which a lot of the sites I need to work with require.
Microsoft Virtual PC 2007
Hope this helps someone.

Hi all,
I have been monitoring this issue since I acquired my Vista 64-bit system a few months ago - and sadly there seems to be no commitment from Nortel to provide Vista x64 customers with a working VPN client.
However, I have found another solution which works for me.
If you have a second PC running XP or Vista x86 on the same LAN or VLAN, you can install the Nortel VPN client on that machine and use Remote Desktop to connect to it from your x64 machine.
Remote Desktop is a utility that comes standard on both XP and Vista. If you have a password-protected user account on the remote (32-bit) machine you should be able to Remote Desktop to it.
Your Remote Desktop session then runs as an additional window in your x64 workspace. You can also enable disk sharing between the two machines. So that the files on your local machine are available in the Remote Desktop window.
Using this set up it should be possible to do just about everything you could do if the VPN client was running on your local machine.
Obviously this won't work for everyone, but it was a good solution that worked for me.
From what I hear Nortel is due to release a vista x64 client some time in December (08)
What I use these days is run a VM of XP with the client installed. It obviously isn't as convenient but does the trick.
In my opinion everyone should be running VMs on their machines in general.
Hello.
I have a same problem, but I don't want use virtual pc or VM on this notebook !
I was call the nortel hotline, and they say that the update will come in january 2009, but as often i presume that it doesn't ready for this month !.
But I know that it's possible to set up a VPN connexion in Vista, and I ask me why will be not possible with nortel contivity ?
Well, there are anybody who succes in doing set up this connexion without contivity client or it's impossible to make that without vpn client and why ?
Thank you.
Promising news!!!!!
It looks like Nortel has released documentation that details a new client called the Nortel VPN Clent release 10.01. These documents are dates 2008-12-08.
The great news is that it was designed exclusively for Vista and will release in both an x86 and x64 version! I do not see a download link yet for the executable, but the PDF documents are available.Nortel VPN Client release 10.01 is a completely new Nortel VPN Client for the
Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. Changes to the GUI include creating
Internet Protocol security (IPsec) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) profiles using a
wizard and main GUI, as well as configuring proxies, launching applications,
managing options, importing certificates, and using a third-party API. There is
also a redesigned status monitor and system tray icon. Release 10.01 runs only on
the Windows Vista operating system.
