| | My first problems using vista home premium Hi. Just bought a Sony VAIO VGN-AR41L, and it's lovely but i'm disapointed with Windows Vista. First of all i was arranging my gadgets on the side bar and i clicked on the news headline window and then tryed to expand on the story. Initially a smaller window popped up stating their was a unknown error, only giving me the option to close that small window. That wasn't very helpful! I then tryed, after some time browsing to open windows messenger live icon in the programmes menu, it said the same error message! Out of stupidity i then for some reason bought online RegistrySmart which said it would resolve the problem. Although it found around "137 problems" it didn't fix mine. So i thought it might have been something i've done so i wanted to do a system restore to the day i bought and ran Laptop. I followed the proceedures several times. When the system rebooted to desktop it said in a little widow system unable to restore please try a differnt restore point, i did and it didn't work!!! Now when i click on one of those headlines in "gadgets" the little window says "the file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an assosiation in the ass' control panel. I have had a look at that and i on't know where to start. I am mostly woried about being unable to "system restore", but would like everything to be ironed out. please help! also when i tryed to contact microsoft they asked for a product key/seriel no: from system which i have, the automated response tells me it's invalid. I didn't get any discs with my product, what am i supposed to do if i re-format HD???????? ![]() |
