| | How to setup Username/Password for a drive in a Windows XP computer to backup files from a Vista computer? Hello, I have a large Hard drive connected to a Windows XP machine. I can access to this drive without using any user name/password; it's a simple share drive. But when I wanted to backup files to it from my Vista machine, Vista Backup and Restore Center is asking Username/password combination for this drive which do not exist! So how can I setup username/password for this drive in this Windows XP machine to be able to backup files from the Vista machine? Thank you. Athena |

Hi Athena, When you are prompted, you should be using the username and password that you use on the XP machine. Even if you use an autologon, you are still logging on with a username. You may need to create a password on the XP machine's user account in order for this to work if you are not currently using one due to the way network sharing is implemented on it. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Athena" <hiittite@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:7E76377F-99D1-4BC9-A864-A5CC34810386@xxxxxx Quote: > Hello, > > I have a large Hard drive connected to a Windows XP machine.
