| | Vista & Nero Hi, Anyone get any version of Nero to work on Vista? I just installed it, and I've tried Nero 6, Nero 7 Premium, and who knows what other versions of Nero. Same thing every time. It goes through the install menu stating that it is extracting files, then gives me some option to install some Ask Browser or something, which I answer 'No' to, and then the install program exits, never installing......... What gives??? Any suggestions?? |

| | Re: Vista & Nero Disable anti virus and any unnecessary programs that are running. Nero 6 works somewhat on my Windows Vista Ultimate. Exactly what are you saying "No" to? Try copying the CD to the hard drive and then install it from there. Then be sure you update all the latest updates, about half a dozen for me. Nero 7 is reported to work, but you also need to get the updates. There is a Nero 7 Enhanced that is supposed to be compatible with Windows Vista. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org <amerar@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1188876919.979318.240560@xxxxxx Quote: > > Hi, > > Anyone get any version of Nero to work on Vista? I have been using Nero 7 with Vista since before last Christmas, and have never had any problems with it. The last few builds seem to run fine. ss. |

I have never used Nero 7 so all I know is what I have heard. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Synapse Syndrome" <synapse@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23ejdwLr7HHA.1900@xxxxxx Quote: > "Jupiter Jones [MVP]" <jones_jupiter@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:eW0GXaq7HHA.2208@xxxxxx Quote: >> Exactly what are you saying "No" to? > The Ask browser toolbar, by the sound of it.. > > Quote: >> There is a Nero 7 Enhanced that is supposed to be compatible with >> Windows Vista. > > Do you mean Nero 7 Premium Reloaded? I think that was what they called the full bundle before Vista was even released. They keep on changing the name whenever they include yet more other feautures into the already ridiculously bloated suite. Nero 7 Premium Reloaded is the first version I have seen with this claim that it is Certified for Windows Vista, even though it has worked flawlessly for me for many months. http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/index.html Quote: > However I just noticed Nero 8 is on the way: > http://www.nero.com/enu/nero8-info.html > This might be the best option if Nero is desired in Windows Vista. current. I got Nero v5 with my first CD burner in 2000, and it was only 4.80MB. They have spoilt Nero by including all this other crap in the installer, and that is why I use the hacked Nero Lite/Micro installers instead. ss. |

I was able to install just the programs that Nero Lite touts (along with Nero Recode, which I thought I might use someday, but haven't). Am I missing something? Thanks! |

I installed it in Vista last november, so it's been awhile. I don't remember having to disable it, so the 'must activate scout' assertion may well be true. I installed v. 7 because v. 6 was unstable, even in compatibility mode. Whatever the case, I have to agree that Nero has definitely become way over-bloated. I remember when it was free. Jack |
