Access Safe Mode with F2 then F8

I have an ASUS Striker Extreme motherboard. I tried to get to Safe Mode with
F8 but that just gets me to the boot menu. I have to use F2 and then go to F8
or wait until the Republic of Gamers logo is gone and the Vista logo is about
to start to press F8.

Is there a command to give in Vista while it is running normally to make it
restart immediately in Safe Mode? Similiar to the command that is available
in XP.

You can use the System Configuration utility (msconfig). On its Boot tab,
check Safe Boot. Of course, this has to un-checked again to return things
to normal. (You can access msconfig while in Safe Mode to un-check Safe
Boot).

Re: Access Safe Mode with F2 then F8

With XP or Vista, you can't tell the OS to present the boot options menu
until after POST. Your can set to go into safe mode directly from post if
that is what you want.
