How to access encryptise data

I cannot power up my xp note book. My data are encryptied but I manage to
copy into my ext hard disk. When I try to read it off my new Vista Home
edition notebook, it says access denied. Please advise how how can I gain
access to these data? Thank you

Re: How to access encryptise data

If you used BitLocker to encrypt it, you will have to unencrypt it before
you can copy to another system. You cannot use it in Vista Home unless you
do.

Re: How to access encryptise data

You would need to decrypt the data using the original computer and software
prior to trying to read it on a new computer.

Re: How to access encryptise data

Many thanks for your reponse. Just a thought, if I can get hold of another
xp pc with the same encryption programme, I should be able to un-encrypt it
/// what do you think? Otherwise I have no option but to get xp computer fix.
thanks

Re: How to access encryptise data

It depends on the encryption software used - some of the expensive
(business-class) stuff could require that it be decrypted on the same
computer it was encrypted on, other software might be able to decrypt the
drive on another XP computer. You'd need to check the documentation, Web
site and/or support for the software in question to find out for sure.
