No results in Windows Quote: > Explorer, if you try to search them using the Search box this is a known bug in Vista. You'll probably find that thread in the archives, somewhere. I don't have a KB number, I don't think there was a specific KnowledgeBase article. Probably it will be fixed in SP1 (I'd guess). In the meantime, you can work around it by setting the Index bit manually, or using an alternative app like Paint.NET (which is free and better, anyway).: http://www.getpaint.net/ Hope it helps, -- Andrew McLaren amclar (at) optusnet dot com dot au |

| | Re: All images saved with Paint are NOT indexed! Bug reproduced here: Vista Home Premium. The 'index this file' is not checked in the properties. Also the permissions has two additional entries (vs other jpgs) that are not inherited from parent that seem to be redudent (they are also inherited). Also the icon for the file has a small icon of two people in the lower left, I hadn't noticed that in other files. This file is shared with IUSR_NMPR ( media sharing I think). Basic bug seems to be that the save does not inherit the properties from the parent directory. | | Re: All images saved with Paint are NOT indexed! Further: I tried to stop sharing the file, after about two minutes of frantic disk activity the system reported that I could not stop sharing because the file was in a shared directory (true), however the pair of people icon was removed. | | Re: All images saved with Paint are NOT indexed! I do have a Cheapo Compaq with Vista preinstalled. I use it mostly for testing purposes and seldom allow it access to the internet. I've Ghosted the hard drive prior to first boot, so I can quickly and easily get back to 'out of the box' condition with no possibilty of viruses/malware. Having taken these precautions to prevent needless head-banging, I would like to eliminate the 'known bugs' issues too. Having such a URL, easily searched with the browser's 'find on this page' function, seems like a simple and inexpensive way to assist the customer. Or maybe not freely supplying a list of known bugs is a major source of M$'s revenue. What do you think? -Paul Randall "Mike Hall - MVP" <mikehall@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:egdHgFv8HHA.4880@xxxxxx Quote: > Have you tried out Vista for yourself?
