Error during boot on vista installer

Hoping this error hasn't been answered, I put mine.

First, I'm french, so, by advance, excuse my language errors, thank you ;-)

So, I have downloaded the Vista's ISO this afternoon and i have burned it (
Nero 7 ) into a dvd+rw ( Philips ).

My computer's configuration is :
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
2.00 GHz
RAM : 1.75 GB

Graphic card : ATI radeon 9600 SERIES

When I boot my pc on the dvd, I have a black screen and this : "Windows is
loading files" with a status bar.

This finished, I have this error message :

"Windows did not start correctly. A recent hardware or software change might
be the cause.

File : \windows\system32\winload.exe
Status : 0xc000035a
Info : Attempty to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not
compatible with 64-bit mode"

For information, I have installed the pack "inspirat vista" few months ago
and, thanks to my engeneer school, I have had a conference on vista. So, I
have seen vista in action, that's why I want to test it !!!

If you need more details ...

Good evening

RE: Error during boot on vista installer

Ok, first of all, just so you know, Nero 7 won't work in Vista. They are not
compatible, so don't even try to install it when you have Vista. I suggest
you install Vista when you are running XP. I had a similar message to yours,
so I tried to install from XP, and everything went ok. In case you don't
know, Vista will delete your display drivers, so you will have to download
them, or if you have them on the original CD/DVD that came with you computer,
you can get them from there. Try installing from XP and see what comes up. I
wanted to do a clean install so in case there was something wrong in XP, it
would start new. I simply backed up my documents in a external hard drive.
Good Luck

RE: Error during boot on vista installer

The exact same thing happens to me. I thought it might be my nforce4
mainboard, but not too sure. I burned mine with nero7 too in xp.

I tried to install from boot and within xp to an 40bg partition, but get the
same error.

Goes though installation, copies files, restarts, loader screen comes up and
then just dies. Sometimes i get the hardware error if doing the boot install.

RE: Error during boot on vista installer

As you can see I have two Nforce4 boards but not both give problems so it's
not to say that all Nforce4 boards give problems.

Nicholas:

Do these boards have SLI? If so I believe you must disable it for Vista.

Re: Error during boot on vista installer

Yes both boards have. If this is the solution then it has to be that the MSI
board disables it by default because I have no problems with this board. How
do I disable SLI for the Asus board?
